For me, the REES MPhil structure was most enjoyable for being a genuinely interdisciplinary course which struck a successful balance between depth and breadth across diverse and fascinating subjects, most of which I hadn’t studied previously.
Probably the greatest challenge of the course was balancing commitments to each component part, from the core modules to the skills training to the Russian language classes. This was in itself a valuable experience though, which allowed me to develop important management skills as well as my knowledge of specific subjects.
The REES course was invaluable in making me a better candidate for a whole series of jobs, by improving my capacity to work to multiple deadlines under pressure, and by equipping me with skills in quantitative methods which I previously lacked but have found to have a wide range of applications in the workplace.
